About Me
Hi, I’m Madison.
I am the founder of The King Was Her Mother, a brand inspired by the boldest woman I know: my mom, Kelly King. She’s the reason I fell in love with getting dressed. Not to impress, but to express. From a young age, she taught me that you should wear what you love. Be bold. Be playful. Be unexpected.
And above all, never shrink yourself to fit in.
For most of my life, I did just that. Until I entered the world of “professional” dressing—where the rules were tighter and the colors duller, and suddenly I found myself carrying around a change of clothes just to feel like myself again after work.
I was living in-between... between meetings and dinners, between who I was expected to be and who I actually was.
One day it hit me: what if I could create clothes that made room for both? That’s when The King Was Her Mother was born.
This brand is for those who move fluidly through their lives, the ones who can command a room, close a deal, and still show up to dinner and drinks feeling like themselves. It's polished without being stiff, expressive without being loud. Designed to move with you, wherever you're headed, no outfit change required.
If you’re reading this—thank you. Thank you for supporting this journey. It’s going to be a crazy one, and I’m so glad you’re here and a part of this community. I can’t wait to grow this brand together.
