Our Story

THE KING WAS HER MOTHER began with a woman who taught me how to be fully myself.

My mother, Kelly King, taught me that getting dressed could be expressive, personal, and powerful, rather than a performance. She believed in wearing what you love, being bold, and never shrinking yourself to meet someone else’s expectations.
When I entered the world of “professional” dressing, clothing started to feel like a compromise, too bold for where I was going, too buttoned-up for who I was. I found myself changing outfits between meetings and dinners, living somewhere between expectation and identity.

That tension is where the brand began.

I built what I couldn’t find: a wardrobe that could move with me. Pieces designed to carry you from early mornings to late nights without asking you to become someone else along the way.

THE KING WAS HER MOTHER is rooted in thoughtful construction, sharp silhouettes, and storytelling details that reveal themselves over time. Clothing that is polished yet personal, designed to follow you wherever
you go.

You don’t need to choose between sides of yourself.

You were made to do both.
